An established television literary agent, Ryan Ly has represented critically acclaimed series, from Making a Murderer to Good Girls Revolt. Moreover, Ryan Ly oversaw the sale of the Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul, which has emerged as a long-running offshoot that has successfully combined comedy with the quirky, often violent story arc of its companion series.
With season three of the series having culminated in a cliffhanger, creator Vince Gilligan recently spoke with The A.V. Club on where Better Call Saul is heading. With Saul’s brother and nemesis Chuck McGill having met an untimely end in a residential fire, space has opened up in the series for the development of recently introduced characters such as Gustavo Fring, who also features prominently in Breaking Bad. As for whether Walter White himself will ultimately appear, Gilligan skirts his way around the possibility, leaving it open to wherever the narrative arc naturally progresses.
Vince Gilligan also talked about the general state of television, referring to it as the Platinum Age on account of the surfeit of quality programming that has emerged and in many ways surpasses that of its Golden Age predecessor of the 1950s and 1960s.
